The Paddle

For those schools who don't have it, or practice it, we need to bring it back. Of course, this would probably bring out the pacifists touting their claims that paddling is abusive and cruel, and other such rhetoric.
The ACLU comes to mind, when such an agenda comes up. Some have said they would "backhand" a teacher if they were to paddle their child. Sounds like the ACLU to me. The ACLU has been a boil on our knecks for a long time, and quite frankly, they're not about Civil rights, but about encouraging the freedom to do more bad behavior. Which is more than good reason to note the current irresponsibility, and children being led into lifestyles by their also delinquent peers.

This is a perfect reason for why we need the paddles back in this country. So many households experience violent protests by trying to appeal to their parents to get them every little wish and whim they want. Thus, you have little or no discipline. Then you have parents who scream about litigating their responsiblities that they should be doing, and thus, when their spoiled little brats get out of control, and the school tries to do something about it, very little measures are taken out to be teaching the children how to be nice and kind to others. Far too many parents reject that which will bring their families together, by taking their children to church and teaching them in the love and gentle admonition of the Lord.

Kids these days, think they can quite simply get away with basically anything at school, including bullying, and threatening teachers, administrators, and other students, why? Because there are no real repercussions to their actions, and are being emboldened by the attitudes that are influencing their behavior at home. To say that some of these youth are brazen is to put it lightly. There is no fear, disrespect is rampant and the school personnel are essentially hopeless in this type of situtation, and they try to deliver effective measures to correct the children. This doesn't even account for the disruption to those students who want to try and learn.

Detention, parental notes, and suspensions don't work. The threat of the paddle would serve as a great deterrent.

For those of you who don't like the idea of corporal punishment, that's fine. Home school your kids, or put them in a private institution, because it shouldn't be the job of taxpayers to have to straighten your kids out!

    Says you.

Look, I know a handful of students that are taught in Christ and attend church, and they're still pukes in real life. When it comes down to it, some parents just suck at doing their job.

btw: being brought up in Christ and going to church isn't the end-all, be-all solution to delinquency, Jeremiah. And it sure as hell isn't the answer to everything. There are many different methods that can work, it just depends on the person.

  2. Johnathon,

Jeremiah's suggestion is a heck of a lot better than any type of solution you've made, which I haven't actually seen a suggestion by you to be quite honest. To say that there are alternate methods and to propose them are two different things.

And quite frankly, Jeremiah's suggestion I'm sure will go a lot farther in the long run than yours ever will. You'll note he suggested not only bringing children up in the way of the Lord Jesus Christ, but also using firm physical discipline when necessary. (Don't take that as abuse because any true good Christian will not abuse their children.

I take interest in the fact though that you nit-pick at the lines in his post that says that Christianity is a very good thing and a good way to set a child inthe straight and narrow.

You don't knock the physical discipline, as I'm sure you know it works, as does any person. I work in retail and I see many child/parent relationships every day. The kids you see screaming and throwing blue faced tantrums are the ones that the parents tend to ignore and never really go beyond the measure of telling them to shut up. And they tell them that over, and over, and over, and over. And eventually end up spoiling the child for whatever they are screaming about.

The well behaved children, well that's a different matter entirely. If the child starts to go into a tantrum, usually the threat of a spanking clears up the matter entirely. If that doesn't help, then firm physical action definitely clears it up. You don't hear anymore screaming, yelling, or whining. The child knows the boundary has been set and that issue is settled. It's also these type children that you'll notice tend to have better personalities later in life.

Mind you this is more than just passive observation, this is stuff that has actually been proven by some of your more sensical child psychologists.

So, I take it from your post that you just inevitably hate Christianity, and anyone that takes root in it.

I also wanted to point out that Christianity is a good way to give a child firm bearing in life. It has been a good guide post for me, and I'm thankful my parents brought me up in chuch and gave me the direction in life I needed. And I'm thankful for the physcal discipline also.

All in all, your post is fruitless.

And yes, believe me, Christianity offers all the answers to lifes problems. And when I say all, I mean it. If you'd take some time to actually read the Bible, fellowship with other Christians, and take a serious and meaningful hard look at it, and take time to atleast try and understand it, you would see where Jeremiah, and myself are coming from. Not to mention millions of other Christians from around the World.

They know the power of Jesus Christ and the impact it has made on their lives. All it took was a little bit of faith and some time on their part, Jesus Christ met them half way on the other part.

You couldn't be more wrong. I respect the Christian faith, but I can't stand fundamentalists like your brother.

And yes, believe me, Christianity offers all the answers to lifes problems. And when I say all, I mean it.

Well, other religions like Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism claim the same thing. What makes you think Christianity has all the answers? Because the Bible said so?

  4. Says you.

    No, Jonathan.

    Says God's Word.

being brought up in Christ and going to church isn't the end-all, be-all solution to delinquency

In your opinion, it isn't, No; but your opinion, in no way shape or form negates reality.

It is the heretical euphemisms, like what you bring Jonathan that is tearing society down. In much the same manner as what the apostle Paul talked about in the book of Romans, They exchanged the truth of God for a lie...they have been filled with every kind of greed, hatred and depravity...so He gave them over.

Any Nation who chooses to stand or step outside of the will of God will ultimately fail. Just short this side of Hell.

Hell is simple logic, Jonathan, just think of free will, you were given a choice on the very day that you acknowledged your presence and unique being on this planet earth.

Parents are as a lamp post, guiding their children in the early stages of their life through a dark and oppressed world of sin.

    How so? Please explain.

  6. Jonathan,

    Think, my friend, think!

It's easier for people who need somebody to look up to and they see your actions, in how you're living a worldly life, take it as "truth," and be totally mislead.

Yes, you can be a moral person by showing compassion, generosity and kindness, but what is their worth? They are worthless without the loving guidance of Our Creator. In other words, they are fruit, but fruit of no value. Why? They don't deliver hope for the Eternal soul of the individual. And furthermore, you can't have compassion, generosity, and kindness without Salvation, because those are fruits of the Spirit through Salvation, and a knowledge of God's Word!

So you see, it's easier for folks to take after you, and take the same broad path. Now, keep in mind, when I say the broad path, I mean the path is limitless. The sinners path is the world wide open, you can do whatever you please, without any forthought as to how your actions will affect others, and you know them-Anger, Cheating, deceit, drugs, greed, hatred, lying, lust, profane language, selfish ambitions, etc, etc.

All the things that one can do, not knowing the full consequences of the ultimate outcome...And it's all because you CHOOSE to, not because somebody made you to do those things. Yes, you can be tempted, but you have the power over temptation, to live according to what God's Word teaches.

Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God!

So, we have a responsibility, not just to ourselves to live according to God's Word, but to show others as we go along how to live a life pleasing to God! Life is only what you make of it, and since we are only here for a short time, there is much soul searching in order. Otherwise, you live a WORLDLY life that promises little or no hope.

Are you going to let your light shine, or are you going to walk around in that perilous darkness?

    Think about it.
